Description

  • Architect and evolve scalable data ingestion and egress frameworks and pipelines with strong testing and data quality monitoring.
  • Enhance the dbt-based data transformation environment and related tools for building models and semantic interfaces.
  • Architect data delivery mechanisms to external partners to reduce manual overhead during month-end close.
  • Improve CI/CD processes, testing, and observability across the data platform.
  • Build tools, skills, and agents that improve LLM-assisted development, debugging, and system maintenance.
  • Enhance security posture and access controls across AWS and Databricks environments.
  • Design and implement distributed data processing systems using Spark and Databricks on AWS.
  • Establish clear ingestion and integration boundaries that reduce operational fragility and eliminate single points of failure.
  • Partner with analytics engineers to support high-quality downstream modeling and reporting.
  • Harden pipelines with monitoring, alerting, SLAs, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Mentor engineers and raise distributed systems rigor across the team.
  • Produce clear technical artifacts and recommendations for stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience designing and operating high-volume distributed data systems in production.
  • Deep expertise with a cloud data platform, with Databricks strongly preferred.
  • Strong AWS experience from an infrastructure, services architecture, deployment, and ownership perspective.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark for large-scale processing.
  • Strong proficiency with modern CI/CD practices, including GitHub Actions and Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt from an infrastructure and deployment perspective.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, partitioning strategies, storage formats, and analytical workload optimization.
  • Experience with Airflow and data flow orchestration.
  • Experience solving networking challenges in data ingestion, such as VPC peering, firewall traversal, API rate limiting, and cross-account access.
  • Experience using AI tools and LLM-supported code development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
  • Demonstrated ability to scope ambiguous problems independently and drive them to decisive outcomes.
  • Track record of proactively escalating risks and closing long-running efforts with clear recommendations.
  • Experience defining ingestion validation standards and implementing data quality controls.
  • Proven ability to reduce operational fragility and eliminate single points of failure.
  • Strong systems design skills across distributed and event-based architectures.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership influencing cross-team architectural decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills across engineering, analytics, product, and executive stakeholders.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
