Description

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists, including setting priorities and developing career paths.
  • Define and own the analytics and experimentation strategy across key shopping surfaces, including metrics, guardrails, instrumentation, and best practices.
  • Own core shopping metrics and event logging, improve data quality, and build reusable dashboards and tools.
  • Drive analyses that uncover friction in shopping funnels and partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize fixes.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations to define measurable goals and align on tradeoffs and roadmaps.
  • Set the standard for experiment design and readouts, including hypothesis formation, sampling, power analysis, and metric selection.
  • Collaborate with ML partners on ranking, recommendations, and personalization initiatives.
  • Improve cross-functional rituals such as experiment reviews and prioritization forums to increase speed and rigor.
  • Ensure AI and agentic features are grounded in robust measurement frameworks with clear success definitions.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in data science or analytics, including 2+ years directly managing or tech-leading a data science team.
  • Proven experience optimizing consumer app experiences at scale, such as funnels, ranking, personalization, or experimentation.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in experimentation and measurement, including A/B testing, guardrails, metrics design, and logging or event instrumentation.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with proficiency in SQL and Python or R.
  • Experience translating ambiguous customer and retailer problems into clear metrics, analyses, and experiment roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional leadership with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations, with the ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Track record of improving data quality, instrumentation, and reusable dashboards or tools.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, or consumer mobile apps, especially grocery, retail, or multi-retailer environments (preferred).
  • Background in ranking, recommendation, or personalization systems and their evaluation (preferred).
  • Experience scaling experimentation programs, including governance, tiering, or review forums (preferred).
  • Experience partnering with ML teams on production models and offline/online evaluation strategies (preferred).
  • Familiarity with GenAI and AI-assisted workflows (preferred).

  • Base salary range in the US from $182,000 to $230,000 depending on location.
