Description

  • Identify and evaluate strategic partnerships, acquisitions, investments, and greenfield development opportunities for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects.
  • Perform strategic and financial analyses, including company evaluations and feasibility studies for potential acquisitions.
  • Track market, industry, economic, consumer, and competitive trends and engage with industry groups to identify new market solutions.
  • Prepare acquisition, divestiture, and other strategic transaction summaries and recommendations.
  • Manage real estate matters from site control through title policy issuance, including title commitments, curative work, easements, land purchases, sale-leasebacks, subdivisions, and crossing agreements.
  • Obtain local, state, and federal permits and environmental clearances needed to build and operate projects.
  • Lead hearings and manage filings related to land use, environmental reviews, wildlife, wetlands, historic/cultural resources, and aviation impacts.
  • Manage interconnection applications, security postings, and feasibility, system impact, and facilities study reviews through commercial operation.
  • Oversee construction-related agreements, including interconnection, engineering and procurement, and construction agreements.
  • Coordinate information flow among HQC US, project investors, and third-party financing representatives, and support debt, equity, and divestment closings.
  • Prepare projects for financing or divestment by addressing land control, easement, right-of-way, and other finance-risk items.
  • Manage a small development team of up to two people.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, urban planning, engineering, finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of renewable energy project development experience on behalf of the owner/developer.
  • Proven track record as a lead developer with a deal sheet of projects 50MW+ in size.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets and renewable energy development in North America.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Superior preparation, presentation, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time within North America and internationally.
  • Professional representation of the company in internal and external communications.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Working knowledge of ISO/RTO interconnection processes, including CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, SPP, and MISO (preferred).
