Description

  • Work with the team to deliver new functionality and iterate based on results.
  • Contribute to and review design documents for upcoming features.
  • Own and operate backend services, including participating in on-call rotations.
  • Take responsibility for the Grafana Backend API, CLI tool, and supporting orchestration infrastructure.
  • Mentor and support other team members through design discussions and collaboration.
  • Share ideas and knowledge across teams and technical disciplines.
  • Work closely with other squads in the Grafana Division.
  • Influence the product roadmap and contribute beyond the immediate team scope.
  • Analyze, design, and build modular solutions, then ship MVPs and iterate based on feedback.

Requirements

  • Solid backend development experience, ideally with Go.
  • Good understanding of storage solutions, especially relational databases such as MySQL, SQLite, and Postgres.
  • Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering through brainstorming to shipping a product.
  • Experience writing clean, robust, performant software that is maintainable by others.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative, asynchronous environment.
  • Ability to tackle complex challenges and break them into iterative learning loops.
  • Interest in or experience with open-source software and/or commercial open-source companies (preferred).
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (preferred).
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, or Developer Efficiency work streams (preferred).
  • Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles (preferred).
  • Familiarity with on-call work and operations/SRE tasks (preferred).
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, or willingness to learn (preferred).
  • Role is available for candidates located in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and Sweden.

  • Base compensation in Ireland of €104,000 - €130,000.
