Description

  • Manage and develop the Alloy engineering team, including regular feedback and career development conversations.
  • Support the team’s collaboration with the OpenTelemetry collector community and help remove roadblocks.
  • Partner with go-to-market teams to help customers and prospects succeed with Alloy.
  • Work closely with product and engineering leadership to ensure Alloy fits into the Grafana Cloud user experience.
  • Guide projects from early ideation through planning, execution, and post-launch.
  • Foster a psychologically safe, innovative, and continuously improving team environment.
  • Collaborate across team boundaries and partner with other functions to solve customer problems.
  • Support delivery of high-quality results consistently across the team.

Requirements

  • Domain knowledge in observability and OpenTelemetry sufficient to lead a team working with the OpenTelemetry collector community.
  • Experience managing engineering teams with a high degree of autonomy in technical and product decisions.
  • Strong people management and relationship-building skills, with awareness of current technical trends.
  • Ability to collaborate across time zones and cultures in a fully remote environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and improve team performance.
  • Customer-focused mindset with decisions grounded in user needs and real-world impact.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.
  • Comfort using AI-powered tools and practical experience incorporating AI-assisted development into team workflows is preferred.
  • Willingness to work remotely in the NASA (EST-only) or EMEA time zones.
  • Experience with AI coding assistants and frontier models such as GPT-Codex 5.4, Claude Opus 4.7, or Gemini 3 Pro is a plus.
