Description

  • Lead and grow the SEO team, including hiring, coaching, and developing managers and individual contributors.
  • Own department performance, retention, and results across a diverse client portfolio.
  • Serve as the senior SEO voice on strategy calls, quarterly business reviews, and client escalations.
  • Build and refine full-funnel SEO strategies, including technical audits, content roadmaps, backlinking, and digital PR.
  • Develop cross-platform search strategies across Google, Bing, Amazon, and other discovery channels.
  • Own department P&L, capacity planning, tooling decisions, and support for sales pitches.
  • Identify and fix operational gaps by creating new processes, capabilities, and revenue opportunities.
  • Set the team’s point of view on generative engine optimization and AI search.
  • Coach the team through weekly 1:1s and foster a culture of high standards and psychological safety.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.
  • Agency experience is required.
  • Proven experience managing managers and leading high-performing teams, including offshore teams.
  • Deep expertise in technical SEO, content, and off-site SEO disciplines.
  • Experience owning a P&L or other financial responsibility.
  • Track record of recovering at-risk campaigns and helping close new business.
  • Strong interest in AI’s role in search and the future of discovery.
  • Strong executive presence for pitch calls, client calls, and conference-stage presentations.
  • Experience with D2C brands and performance marketing environments is preferred.
  • Prior success managing offshore talent across time zones is preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial background or experience launching new initiatives inside an agency or startup is preferred.
