Description

  • Run technical discovery with data and platform leaders at regulated enterprises.
  • Lead platform assessments by mapping customer estates, scoring complexity, and showing migration blast radius.
  • Own demos and proof-of-concepts end to end as the primary technical proof in the sales cycle.
  • Translate customer migration risk into concrete technical analysis and recommendations.
  • Handle technical objections around perimeter security, cross-platform lineage, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Scope engagements and hand off cleanly to FormativGroup delivery while staying close through implementation.
  • Feed field learnings back into product priorities and roadmap decisions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of technical pre-sales or solutions engineering experience, ideally selling data or platform software into enterprise or regulated buyers.
  • 5+ years of fluency across modern and legacy data stacks, including ETL/ELT tools such as Talend, Informatica, and DataStage.
  • Experience with warehouses and lakehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Teradata, plus dbt, BI, lineage, and governance.
  • Ability to run a POC that builds trust and proves value on the customer's real problem.
  • Comfort presenting to both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
  • Clear, structured communication with the ability to lead with the conclusion.
  • Experience working in a startup or 0-1 environment, helping build a motion, function, or product from scratch.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to define the path when one does not already exist.
  • AI fluency is required, including proficiency with AI tools, AI-first workflows, and examples of AI used in real work.
  • Strongly preferred: experience selling into regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare.
  • Nice to have: background in data migration or modernization projects.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with regulatory drivers such as BCBS 239, DORA, and the EU AI Act, plus perimeter and sovereignty constraints.
  • Nice to have: hands-on cloud deployment experience with Azure or AWS in customer-controlled environments.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. and unable to require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must reside in one of the eligible U.S. states or Washington, DC, and be based in or near Austin, TX is preferred.

  • Estimated base salary range of $150,000 to $185,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses, commissions, or other incentive programs.
