Description

  • Lead the product roadmap from Beta through GA and standalone commercial launch, including scope, sequencing, estimates, and readiness evidence.
  • Define service operating requirements for throughput, latency, rate limiting, availability, observability, and SLOs.
  • Run staged detection rollouts using feature flags, rollback plans, and customer-facing go/no-go criteria.
  • Build a measurement-driven detection quality program covering test corpora, false positives, false negatives, regressions, and drift.
  • Improve detection coverage for AI agents, assistants, stealth automation, self-hosted agents, and headless browsers.
  • Develop classification APIs that communicate automation type, identity status, confidence, and reason codes.
  • Manage, coach, hire, and grow a senior engineering team while establishing ownership, goals, and effective engineering practices.
  • Coordinate with product, research, customer-facing teams, and a sibling engineering team to resolve dependencies and enable independent delivery.
  • Lead the AI-native development model, including agent-assisted coding, review workflows, security checks, measurement, and documentation.
  • Ensure contract-first APIs with OpenAPI specifications, breaking-change detection, generated documentation and SDKs, and agent-facing surfaces.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing software engineers, preferably senior and staff-level engineers, with a record of shipping products through launch.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience before or alongside management.
  • Technical ability to evaluate design documents and pull requests, engage on architecture, and make technical decisions.
  • Domain experience in bot detection or management, fraud or abuse prevention, web security, browser/client-side engineering, or high-volume APIs.
  • Experience with measurement-driven engineering, including test corpora, precision/recall or false-positive/false-negative tracking, regression suites, and SLOs.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding agents and the judgment to determine where they are effective.
  • Experience collaborating with product managers, researchers, and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining quality and launch readiness to executives and customers.
  • Experience with bot detection, AI agent ecosystems, browser internals, headless automation, API-first products, or MCP is preferred.
  • Experience forming teams, separating codebases, operating in enterprise SaaS, or working at a high-growth company is preferred.

  • United States salary range of $159,000–$215,000, with location-based ranges including NYC at $187,000–$215,000 and Chicago at $159,000–$183,000.
  • Pay transparency with compensation based on location, experience, expertise, function, and level.
  • Work authorization from the employee’s home location is supported; visa sponsorship is not provided.
