Description

  • Develop robust motion planning and navigation algorithms for complex real-world scenarios.
  • Design optimization-driven path and trajectory generation approaches for smooth and efficient robot movement.
  • Ensure planning methods are scalable, reusable, and adaptable across different deployment contexts.
  • Develop and tune control algorithms for precise trajectory tracking and stable robot operation.
  • Collaborate across autonomy layers to coordinate perception, planning, and control.
  • Build and maintain testing pipelines from unit tests through full robot deployment.
  • Use simulation and testing environments to evaluate algorithms, benchmark performance, and validate regressions.
  • Analyze real-world telemetry to diagnose issues and improve robustness.
  • Investigate field deployment issues through structured data analysis and debugging.
  • Deliver targeted performance improvements while preserving general reliability.

Requirements

  • PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of industry or applied research experience, or MS with 4+ years of relevant experience, or BS with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of motion planning, trajectory generation, and control systems.
  • Experience developing algorithms for wheeled, legged, wheeled-legged, or humanoid robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with motion planning libraries such as OMPL, MoveIt, or Nav2 stack.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python on Linux-based systems.
  • Familiarity with ROS or ROS 2 middleware.
  • Experience with robot sensors such as LiDARs, stereo/depth cameras, IMUs, GPS, and wheel encoders.
  • U.S. Person eligibility is required for this federal role.
  • Exposure to real-world deployment of autonomous systems is preferred.
  • Background in optimization, control, or numerical methods for trajectory planning is preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning-based or hybrid planning approaches is preferred.
  • Contributions to open-source planning or control frameworks are preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical autonomy and industrial robotics use cases is preferred.
