Description

  • Install, test, configure, and implement mainframe operating systems (z/OS) and ISV system software for production and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain, debug, monitor, and tune systems software to ensure availability and performance.
  • Investigate, triage, and resolve incidents and complex problems affecting mainframe systems.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional technical teams (CICS, database, network, hardware/storage, etc.) to accomplish assigned tasks and changes.
  • Research and evaluate new software and hardware products and recommend solutions.
  • Lead and perform complex ISV installations and system upgrades.
  • Assist and provide technical guidance to team members and other areas, including mentoring junior staff.
  • Manage multiple projects and lead or contribute to complex project deliverables related to mainframe systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience managing a team within a mainframe environment in a large enterprise, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical knowledge across multiple mainframe teams and familiarity with z/OS components.
  • Ability to perform the skill set of a Mainframe Systems Programmer, including complex ISV installations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to create client-ready documents.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and customer service skills at a management level.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with support products and areas such as tape management, scheduling, security, and monitoring systems (preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and mentor team members (preferred).

  • Pay range estimate: $85,000 to $148,000 annually (full-time) with placement depending on skills, experience, and business needs.
