Description

  • Perform Software AG ADABAS/Natural software installations, upgrades, patches (ZAPs/service packs) and related product maintenance (TRIM, EntireX).
  • Administer and customize ADABAS/Natural databases including database definition changes, backups/restores, reorganizations, and space and performance monitoring.
  • Perform database optimization, performance reviews and tuning, including identification and resolution of production performance issues.
  • Develop, maintain and execute disaster recovery procedures and support planned and unplanned (emergency) database recovery activities, including DR site bring-up.
  • Work with vendor personnel and manage vendor relations to resolve database problems and review new product versions for client benefit.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation and respond quickly to support requests from multiple clients.
  • Establish and follow policies and procedures for database management, product/database security, maintenance, and ITSM change control.
  • Onboard new clients and support multi-database, large 24x7 environments while managing competing priorities and short deadlines.
  • Maintain documentation for all tasks, adhere to change management policy, and cooperate with Disaster Recovery Services on assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of professional experience with Software AG ADABAS/Natural and related products for administration and systems programming support.
  • Deep expertise in ADABAS database administration, NATURAL security, and Fast Path.
  • Experience with database design and defining FDTs and DDMs for ADABAS/Natural (batch and online).
  • Experience with ADABAS utilities and Natural utilities (Delta Save Facility, ADABAS Utilities, SMA, Program Migration tool, Review) and knowledge of log archive/change accumulation utilities.
  • Knowledge of ADARUN parameters, buffer pools, Protection logging and Command Logging.
  • Experience applying license keys and managing SAG product licenses at primary and DR sites, and applying ZAPs/service packs.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve production database issues, perform performance tuning, and support DR plans.
  • Experience in large 24x7 multi-database environments and ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, follow ITSM change control, and respond quickly to multiple client requests.
