Description

  • Prepare complex legal documents, including indictments, warrants, motions, orders, subpoenas, plea agreements, and legal memoranda.
  • Review case materials and obtain information from case files, law enforcement agencies, and other sources.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, jury instructions, and witness and exhibit lists.
  • Research and verify legal citations using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal resources.
  • Proofread, edit, revise, and format legal briefs and correspondence.
  • Electronically file documents with U.S. District Courts through CM/ECF and transmit proposed orders.
  • Manage electronic discovery databases, including uploading, downloading, linking, processing, producing, Bates-stamping, and redacting materials.
  • Send continuing discovery to defense counsel as directed by the assigned AUSA.
  • Maintain electronic case files, case management data, deadlines, conflict forms, and case-opening documentation.
  • Coordinate victim/witness issues and communicate case developments to attorneys, agents, agencies, and office staff.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate, JD, or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed.
  • At least 2 years of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of automated litigation support experience.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Hands-on experience with word processing, databases, document review and file management systems, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work consistently under extreme pressure.
