Description

  • Conduct research and draft responses for post-conviction motions.
  • Research and draft memorandums on questions of law for direct appeals and pretrial criminal motions in federal court.
  • Review, prepare, and process complex legal documents, motions, pleadings, subpoenas, and related filings.
  • Obtain needed information from case files, law enforcement agencies, civil client agencies, and other sources.
  • Prepare indictments, complaints, search warrants, judgments, applications, notices, affidavits, summonses, and other legal actions.
  • Assist client attorneys with trial notebooks, jury instructions, witness lists, exhibit lists, and discovery preparation.
  • Verify citations and statutory references using original and online legal resources.
  • Compose letters and other written documents requiring knowledge of legal and administrative procedures.
  • Maintain legal files, search reference materials, and assemble exhibits and records for disposition or transfer.
  • Produce written materials using office software applications, including integrating tables, charts, and graphs into documents.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects.
  • Proven ability to interact successfully with clients and attorneys.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state court systems.
  • Knowledge of legal research procedures and legal research resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging applications.
  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Law degree.
  • Mid-level experience; full-time role.
