Description

  • Develop and deliver compelling messaging for counselors, member institutions, and students.
  • Plan, write, and edit newsletters, announcements, and other communications.
  • Translate complex organizational priorities, higher education policy, or technical updates into clear, accessible narratives.
  • Maintain messaging consistency across multiple platforms and ensure alignment with brand voice and tone.
  • Own editorial calendars and coordinate communications across stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and audience feedback to identify communication gaps and improve content.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and provide peer-review or guidance to support message alignment.
  • Adjust messaging and priorities in response to changing organizational needs or feedback.

Requirements

  • Must live in the United States.
  • Willingness to travel for two annual Common App Retreats.
  • 4-6 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience producing audience-specific communications such as newsletters, campaign emails, or announcements.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, CRM systems, or digital publishing tools.
  • Strong collaborative mindset and ability to translate complex ideas into engaging narratives.
  • Experience with project planning and management.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment, such as state government, federal government, or a communications agency.
  • Knowledge of key issues in higher education, or experience in higher education, non-profits, educational institutions, education technology, or government affairs/public policy.
