Description

  • Lead and expand data loss prevention capabilities to protect the Coinbase ecosystem from sophisticated data security incidents.
  • Execute the long-term strategy for the data protection program to strengthen the overall security posture.
  • Evaluate and direct complex security designs and controls across a decentralized tech environment.
  • Implement and deploy DLP tools and technologies with cross-functional teams, including endpoint security and IT.
  • Improve DLP engineering and operations efficiency by leveraging LLMs and agentic AI.
  • Drive automation-first approaches to create more scalable and streamlined DLP operations.
  • Produce quantitative and qualitative metrics to communicate program impact and challenges to leadership.
  • Collaborate with Security, Privacy, engineering, product, compliance, and risk teams on cross-functional initiatives and timely remediation.
  • Mentor peers and help lead a culture of excellence through knowledge sharing.
  • Work with risk teams to measure control effectiveness and respond to global regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Experience in security engineering within the data protection space and a track record of delivering measurable results.
  • Technical ability to solve operational problems with engineering-based solutions.
  • Direct experience testing, tuning, and implementing DLP controls across multiple operating systems.
  • Ability to manage controls across iOS, Chrome, and decentralized datasets.
  • Experience creating scalable processes and automating workflows, with use of ML/AI where appropriate.
  • Ability to work discreetly and thoughtfully with cross-functional teams to mitigate risk.
  • Strong awareness of the insider threat landscape and the legal, regulatory, and ethical considerations of sensitive data handling.
  • Experience using generative AI tools and copilots such as LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean, with human-in-the-loop practices.
  • Experience with insider threat technologies such as SIEM, UBA, and DLP, plus familiarity with investigations and/or the intelligence cycle.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare leadership-facing briefs and assessments.
  • Strong team orientation and comfort operating as either a novice or an expert.
  • Proven business acumen and understanding of how security supports business goals and product strategy.
  • Ability to balance business needs, urgency, competing constraints, and high-quality delivery in a fast-moving environment.
  • ~7 years of security engineering experience solving complex security challenges across enterprise-wide DLP programs (preferred).
  • Experience solving operational problems with an engineering-first, automation-first mindset (preferred).
  • Experience in Web3 and crypto-forward organizations or traditional financial institutions (preferred).
