Description

  • Advise PeopleOps and Talent across the employee lifecycle, including hiring, compensation, leave, performance management, workforce changes, and separations.
  • Handle complex employee relations matters, investigations, terminations, and reductions in force.
  • Develop jurisdiction-specific employment guardrails for global hiring, worker classification, employer-of-record structures, and market expansion.
  • Select and manage local outside counsel across non-U.S. jurisdictions, including budgets, fee arrangements, invoices, and spend forecasts.
  • Monitor emerging employment regulations and translate them into actionable guidance for business and legal leaders.
  • Draft and maintain jurisdiction-specific employment agreements, policies, and handbooks.
  • Train People team members and managers on employment requirements and policies.
  • Manage employment disputes with outside counsel and support cross-functional strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school and admission in good standing to at least one U.S. state bar or equivalent qualification.
  • 12+ years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on global employment law and labor practices.
  • Experience advising HR and Talent teams across multiple jurisdictions, including outside the U.S.
  • Experience managing local outside counsel, including engagement scoping, fee negotiation, invoice review, and budget tracking.
  • Experience drafting contracts or agreements and using a contract management database.
  • Strong legal and business judgment with the ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented advice.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and operate effectively in a remote, multi-time-zone environment.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry such as insurance or finance preferred.
  • Experience with UK and European employment law, pay transparency, EU collective bargaining, AI in employment, GDPR/UK GDPR, or Insurtech, cybersecurity, SaaS, or financial services preferred.
