Description

  • Develop new features for Cliniko’s practice management web application.
  • Improve existing features and refactor the codebase.
  • Fix bugs and maintain existing code.
  • Review code written by other developers.
  • Improve application performance and speed.
  • Work on security improvements and apply secure development practices.
  • Resolve customer issues and assist the support team with queries.
  • Test and deploy your own code.
  • Work across the stack from the database through to the DOM.
  • Contribute proactively to any work needed to make the product better for customers.

Requirements

  • Senior or mid-level software development experience preferred; standout applicants at any level will be considered.
  • Strong interest in writing clear, easy-to-understand code.
  • Passion for work that has a positive impact.
  • Comfort working autonomously, taking initiative, and being responsible for your own projects.
  • Ability to work in complex problem spaces without detailed requirements.
  • Willingness to give and receive meticulous code reviews.
  • Understanding of security practices in software development.
  • Strong testing mindset, writing tests for quality rather than just coverage.
  • Comfort working across relational databases, queues and caches, server-side web frameworks, JSON APIs, and client-side JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in all of the above areas and strong capability in at least a few.
  • Ruby on Rails experience is not required, but similar experience and the ability to ramp up quickly are needed.
  • Extensive HTML and CSS experience is not required.
  • Must be comfortable working as part of a globally remote team.
