Description

  • Develop and maintain Go-based Crossplane Composition Functions that add runtime logic to infrastructure automation.
  • Design, implement, and version Kubernetes Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) for declarative infrastructure interfaces.
  • Build orchestration logic for sequencing, dependency mapping, and health validation to prevent provisioning race conditions.
  • Maintain and customize Cluster API and Crossplane providers for AWS, Azure, and Proxmox (CAPMOX), including upstream contributions where applicable.
  • Establish engineering standards for custom controllers, controller-runtime usage, queue management, and reconciliation behavior.
  • Mentor engineers transitioning from sysadmin/DevOps backgrounds and help them strengthen Go and testing practices.
  • Contribute to architecture decision records for API design, library choices, and controller framework selection.
  • Build robust observability, error handling, self-healing reconcile loops, and fallback mechanisms into controllers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience writing production-grade Go code.
  • Deep understanding of Go concurrency patterns, including goroutines and channels.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes controller tools such as controller-runtime, client-go, Operator SDK, or Kubebuilder.
  • Experience building and managing infrastructure declaratively, ideally with Crossplane or similar control-plane-based provisioning tools.
  • Proficiency with GitOps and continuous delivery workflows using Flux, Helm, and Kustomize.
  • Strong ability to debug complex asynchronous distributed systems and resolve race conditions.
  • Ability to collaborate across application development and infrastructure engineering teams.
  • Commitment to clear architectural documentation, comprehensive unit/integration tests, and API documentation.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with incident response in live, high-scale production systems.
  • Preferred: advanced use of telemetry, distributed tracing, and metrics for root-cause analysis.
  • Preferred: experience managing API lifecycle, upgrade processes, and n-1 compatibility testing.
