Description

  • Lead the global Legal and Compliance function across EMEA and the Americas, including its structure, standards, and priorities.
  • Build and manage regional leadership capability by hiring, developing, evaluating, and managing managers.
  • Establish legal-work intake, prioritization, service expectations, and reporting on workload and risk.
  • Own public-market legal readiness, including governance, entity structure, delegated authority, policies, disclosure controls, and records.
  • Advise the CEO, COO, CFO, Board, and Board committees.
  • Own commercial contracting standards, templates, negotiation positions, and escalation processes.
  • Lead intellectual property and open-source licensing strategy, including copyleft, trademarks, and product distribution terms.
  • Own compliance programs covering privacy, data protection, export controls, anti-bribery, competition, and AI regulation.
  • Manage litigation, disputes, regulatory engagement, external counsel, budgets, and quality.
  • Advise on M&A, partnerships, strategic alliances, and financing transactions.

Requirements

  • Exceptional academic record, including strong high-school and university performance.
  • Law degree or equivalent and an active license to practice in an EMEA or Americas jurisdiction.
  • Substantial senior in-house experience in a global technology or software company.
  • Experience leading distributed legal teams and managing managers across regions and time zones.
  • Track record of building or restructuring in-house legal functions and setting high performance standards.
  • Experience negotiating commercial technology contracts, including enterprise software, subscriptions, channel and reseller, hardware, cloud, and services agreements.
  • Expertise in open-source licensing, including permissive and copyleft licenses, and familiarity with open-source communities.
  • Experience with or readiness for public-company governance, listing preparation, Board support, disclosure, and controls.
  • Depth in at least two areas: privacy, IP and trademarks, export controls and trade, competition, or disputes.
  • Excellent English drafting, presentation, interpersonal, feedback, accountability, curiosity, and flexibility skills; willingness to travel internationally two to four times annually.
  • IPO or listed-company experience, technical or engineering background, subscription-business experience, or multi-jurisdiction qualification preferred.
