Description

  • Co-author a daily Axios newsletter focused on the most important news, scoops, and insights in Colorado Springs.
  • Report on a wide range of topics affecting life in the city and its local communities.
  • Break news and develop conceptual scoops that own major conversations in Colorado Springs.
  • Write in Axios' Smart Brevity style with a conversational voice and personality.
  • Experiment with and use AI tools for reporting and newsletter production.
  • Help build Axios Local and contribute to the evolution of the product.
  • Develop new sources and maintain strong relationships with existing sources.
  • Work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment.

Requirements

  • Experience covering Colorado Springs.
  • Ability to create and maintain excellent sources.
  • Proven ability to break news and generate original scoops.
  • Strong curiosity about the local community and its issues.
  • Comfortable writing with voice and personality.
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced news environment and on deadline.
  • Startup mentality and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Willingness to actively develop AI literacy and use AI tools in daily work.
  • Desire to become indispensable to local readers and Axios Local.
