Description

  • Conduct hands-on research from early exploration and prototyping through successful real-world deployment.
  • Identify promising AI applications aligned with ASAPP’s mission and formulate research programs around them.
  • Own and drive impactful research initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share findings and guide productization of research results.
  • Document experimental results and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Participate in patenting innovations arising from research work.
  • Mentor and support junior researchers in building independent research skills and communicating results.
  • Lead experiments and execute innovative projects as an individual contributor.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Linguistics, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in research.
  • Strong research experience in LLMs, Conversational AI, or Speech systems.
  • Practical knowledge of algorithm design, model development, and experimental evaluation.
  • Experience with spoken Conversational AI applications or Speech LLMs (preferred).
  • Experience coaching or mentoring junior researchers or research engineers.
  • Ability to develop and lead independent research programs (preferred).
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to share findings across product teams.
  • Experience working in a startup environment and balancing deep research with rapid execution.
  • Passion for continued learning and applying machine learning research in impactful ways.
