Description

  • Own the end-to-end hearing process for a portfolio of Social Security Disability cases.
  • Review medical and non-medical evidence to identify gaps and missing documentation.
  • Build and validate medical record summaries and case theories.
  • Draft and file pre-hearing briefs and other hearing-level submissions.
  • Conduct pre-hearing conference calls with claimants to prepare testimony and set expectations.
  • Represent clients at SSA hearings by video, phone, or in person as applicable.
  • Handle post-hearing follow-up, including evidence requests and next steps.
  • Partner with a Hearings Case Manager on logistics, scheduling, documentation, and claimant communications.
  • Collaborate with the hearings team to review case strategy and improve consistency and quality.
  • Use Advocate’s technology platform to streamline review, drafting, and case tracking, and provide feedback for improvement.

Requirements

  • EDPNA or Attorney in good standing where required.
  • Significant prior SSA hearing experience.
  • Ability to analyze medical records and translate them into a clear, persuasive narrative.
  • Ability to draft strong, concise briefs aligned to SSA listings and functional limitations.
  • Ability to prepare claimants empathetically and effectively for testimony.
  • Strong attention to detail for managing deadlines, filings, and hearing logistics.
  • Comfort working in a fast-growing environment with evolving processes.
  • Experience with high case volume while maintaining quality (preferred).
  • Experience with remote hearings and virtual client preparation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with representative payee issues, onset arguments, GRID rules, VE hypotheticals, RFC framing, or other hearing-stage strategy (preferred).
  • Interest in legal operations, process design, or using technology to improve outcomes (preferred).
