Description

  • Lead and develop a team of 4–5 senior and staff-level engineers through hands-on mentorship, prioritization, and career development.
  • Own the migration and standardization of identity services onto a centralized platform in partnership with Platform Engineering.
  • Drive operational excellence by hardening the identity stack, reducing incidents, and improving observability for mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Participate in architectural and code reviews, including evaluating identity flows, platform configurations, and token validation issues.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve integration experience through better documentation, clearer APIs, and faster onboarding.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure identity architecture supports regulatory requirements and fraud prevention initiatives.
  • Shape the team’s security culture by establishing secure development patterns and expanding focus to broader platform security concerns.
  • Represent the team in incident reviews and cross-functional planning, translating security trade-offs for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with deep expertise in identity, authentication, or authorization systems.
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience leading engineers directly.
  • Current hands-on technical ability to read and review code, evaluate architecture decisions, and guide technical direction.
  • Proven success leading system consolidation, ideally from legacy or bespoke auth implementations to centralized platforms.
  • Strong understanding of modern identity protocols and standards, including authentication, authorization, federation, and token-based architectures.
  • Strategic background in infrastructure hardening and secure development lifecycles (SDLC).
  • Strong communication skills for explaining identity and security concepts to product managers, platform engineers, and executives.
  • Experience in a SaaS environment with multi-tenant identity concerns (preferred).
  • Familiarity with fraud-adjacent identity concerns such as account takeover prevention, credential stuffing mitigation, and adaptive authentication (preferred).
  • Experience building or improving developer-facing documentation, SDKs, or integration guides for identity services (preferred).
