Description

  • Assist in maintaining an Internal Developer Platform built on Backstage so teams can discover, deploy, and operate services on Kubernetes.
  • Learn and update Backstage entities such as components, APIs, resources, and systems, including service metadata, ownership information, and documentation.
  • Support Backstage templates and golden paths by testing scaffolding workflows and validating generated Kubernetes manifests.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot platform-related Kubernetes workloads by reviewing logs, pod status, and basic metrics, and escalate issues when needed.
  • Contribute documentation for Backstage features, onboarding steps, and common issues to improve the developer experience.
  • Help keep service dashboards and links current for internal users.
  • Work closely with experienced platform engineers to support developer workflows and small platform improvements.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a college degree program.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts such as Pods, Deployments, and Services is preferred.
  • Basic experience with Git and GitHub or similar tools for cloning repos, creating pull requests, and responding to code review feedback is preferred.
  • Some hands-on experience with containers and Docker is preferred.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills are preferred.
  • Interest in improving developer experience and platform usability is preferred.
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science is preferred.
  • Availability to participate in a 12-week internship beginning June 8, 2026.
  • Willingness to travel for onsite orientation at the Austin, Texas office.
