Description

  • Serve as the teacher of record and deliver live and asynchronous instruction through web conferencing and the learning management system.
  • Set up courses, monitor student progress, grade assignments daily, and provide timely feedback.
  • Review student data to adjust instruction and differentiate learning for individual needs.
  • Maintain regular contact with students and communicate with families about academic and social-emotional development.
  • Create a caring, inclusive classroom using culturally responsive, research-based teaching practices.
  • Implement school-wide culture expectations and incorporate 21st-century technology skills.
  • Collaborate with the principal and colleagues on student progress reports and instructional planning.
  • Plan and participate in social events, field trips, annual state testing, and other required in-person activities.

Requirements

  • Current Michigan teaching license in the appropriate content area.
  • Knowledge of Michigan state standards and Common Core standards.
  • Two years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a coaching environment involving observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage confidential information and supervise students in all school settings.
  • Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at a time.
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
  • Experience working in a multicultural setting preferred; candidates must be located in Michigan.
