Description

  • Design, build, test, deploy, monitor, and support complex frontend applications.
  • Define and evolve frontend architecture, including component structure, routing, state management, data fetching, and error handling.
  • Build reusable UI components and contribute to shared design systems, documentation, and interaction patterns.
  • Integrate applications with APIs and backend services, including authentication, validation, asynchronous data, and error states.
  • Champion accessibility through semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, assistive technology compatibility, standards compliance, and multimodal testing.
  • Improve frontend workflows, build tooling, dependency management, CI/CD integration, testing practices, and development standards.
  • Apply secure frontend practices and diagnose performance, compatibility, reliability, and production issues.
  • Mentor engineers, review code and technical designs, and contribute to technical direction.
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers, policy experts, clients, and government stakeholders to resolve ambiguity and communicate tradeoffs.
  • Identify risks, build stakeholder alignment, support cross-disciplinary projects, and respond to government requirements and policies.

Requirements

  • 8 years of relevant professional experience, including substantial production frontend application experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, including responsive layouts and maintainable styling.
  • Deep production experience with React, Angular, Vue, or another modern frontend framework.
  • Expertise in frontend architecture, component design, state management, routing, and API integration.
  • Strong knowledge of web accessibility, semantic markup, keyboard interaction, assistive technologies, and applicable standards.
  • Experience with unit, component, integration, and end-to-end frontend testing.
  • Experience improving frontend performance, browser compatibility, reliability, and security.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and communicate technical results to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with government consulting, legacy modernization, design systems, or regulated digital services.
  • Preferred experience in civic tech, healthcare programs, distributed cross-functional teams, SAFe/agile methods, or Medicare, ACA, MACRA, Medicaid, or CHIP.
  • Must work from the United States, have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the past 5 years, and not reside in New York state.
  • Must have permanent U.S. work authorization without ongoing visa sponsorship and complete a Public Trust background investigation.
  • Must accommodate Eastern Time collaboration, participate actively in virtual client meetings, and be on camera when required.
