Description

  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 engineers and run the team’s ceremonies and day-to-day operations.
  • Unblock engineers quickly and ensure they understand priorities, deliverables, and user value.
  • Own team member performance, career development, coaching, mentoring, and continuous feedback.
  • Support engineering release processes, monitor deployments, and uphold production branch standards.
  • Review pull requests and provide clear, actionable technical feedback.
  • Lead technical design discussions and align the team on architecture and implementation decisions.
  • Own the team’s technical roadmap, assess technical debt, and keep systems healthy and scalable.
  • Partner with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to plan sprints and structure delivery.
  • Balance sprint commitments with customer-facing support work and prioritize incoming tickets effectively.
  • Communicate upward, downward, and sideways to keep leadership informed and maintain cross-team alignment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team of typically 5+ engineers in a delivery-focused environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code and guide design decisions.
  • Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning, backlog management, and release readiness.
  • AI-driven mindset, with a default to using AI while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineers through feedback and performance management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business context into technical direction.
  • Experience working in a SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Golang and Node.js for backend services, APIs, and real-time systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React, including complex state management and performance optimization.
  • Strong experience building data pipelines using orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow.
  • Deep understanding of modern web architecture, SPA frameworks, client-server communication patterns, and browser performance.
  • Experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of cloud fundamentals, including microservices architecture, managed pipeline orchestration, and compute.
  • Clear understanding of API analysis for data extraction and transformation.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar.
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency, availability, observability, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Preferred: experience in cloud-native applications.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with more than one cloud provider.
  • Preferred: experience scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows.
