Description

  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 engineers and run the team’s day-to-day operations and ceremonies.
  • Unblock engineers quickly and ensure the team stays focused on delivering value to users.
  • Own team member performance, provide continuous feedback, and support career development and mentoring.
  • Support code reviews, provide technical direction, and contribute to the codebase when needed.
  • Help ensure high-quality releases by supporting the release process, monitoring deployments, and maintaining production standards.
  • Lead technical design discussions and align the team on architecture and implementation approaches.
  • Own the technical roadmap, assess technical debt, and keep team components scalable and healthy.
  • Work with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to plan sprints, structure delivery, and align engineering work to business objectives.
  • Balance sprint commitments with customer support needs by prioritizing and tracking incoming tickets and timelines.
  • Communicate upward, downward, and sideways to align leadership, coach engineers, and collaborate with other Houses.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team, typically 5+ engineers, in a delivery-focused environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code and guide design decisions.
  • Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning, backlog management, and release readiness.
  • AI-driven mindset with a default toward using AI while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and growing engineers through feedback and performance management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business context into clear technical direction.
  • Experience working in a SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js for backend services, APIs, or real-time systems.
  • Deep understanding of modern web architecture, including SPA frameworks, client-server communication patterns, and browser performance considerations.
  • Experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes, including cluster architecture, workload orchestration, and production troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking fundamentals, including VPCs, subnets, routing tables, load balancers, ingress controllers, security groups, firewall rules, DNS, and service discovery.
  • Clear understanding of network connectivity across clouds and VPCs, including peering, private links, VPNs, and hybrid networking.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar.
  • Good understanding of React, including complex state management, performance optimization, and large-scale front-end applications.
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts such as consistency, availability, observability, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Experience in cloud-native applications is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with more than one cloud provider is preferred.
  • Background in scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows is preferred.
