Description

  • Own major app features from implementation through delivery in collaboration with the design team.
  • Shape the direction of the Android team and contribute to technical decisions.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key product features.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
  • Review pull requests and support teammates through technical collaboration.
  • Handle critical issues and respond to unexpected technical challenges.
  • Own feature releases and provide nightly builds for the QA team.
  • Build user-facing Android experiences that support Speechify’s text-to-speech app growth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Android components.
  • Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app.
  • Product design intuition and user empathy.
  • Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
  • Understanding of the importance of testing and how to write tests.
  • Self-driven approach to improving the app and codebase beyond the specification.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • User-oriented problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to thrive with continuous feedback from leaders.
  • Bonus: experience building, maintaining, or contributing to Android open source projects.
  • Bonus: experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS.
