Description

  • Own administration of the PLM system, including configuration, workflows, user roles, and permissions.
  • Define and enforce data governance standards for part numbering, BOM structures, lifecycle states, and classification attributes.
  • Manage PLM system upgrades, patches, and roadmap planning with vendors and internal IT.
  • Design and maintain PLM workflows for engineering releases, change processes, and approvals.
  • Oversee integrations between PLM and ERP, MES, CAD, and quality systems.
  • Lead or support data migration efforts such as legacy consolidation, new site onboarding, and M&A integration.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, manage support tickets, and serve as the primary liaison with vendors or implementation partners.
  • Train and support end users on PLM tools, workflows, and best practices.
  • Monitor system performance, data quality, and usage metrics, and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to align PLM capabilities with product development and configuration management needs.
  • Manage PLM licensing, budget, and vendor contracts.
  • Ensure PLM practices support compliance and audit requirements, including traceability, revision control, and document retention.
  • Evaluate and implement new PLM modules or capabilities such as requirements management, MBOM/EBOM reconciliation, and supplier collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience administering or managing a PLM system in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience configuring PLM workflows, data models, and user permissions.
  • Strong understanding of product data structures, including EBOM/MBOM, CAD data management, and item/document lifecycles.
  • Experience integrating PLM with ERP, MES, or CAD systems.
  • Solid understanding of configuration management principles such as EIA-649 and ISO 10007.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with comfort handling both technical system issues and business process design.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across engineering, IT, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Direct administrator-level experience with a PLM platform such as Windchill, Teamcenter, Arena, Agile PLM, or Propel, preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems such as SolidWorks, AutoDesk, Creo, NX, or CATIA and their PLM integration, preferred.
  • Experience with data migration or system implementation projects, preferred.
  • Knowledge of scripting or API-based integration work such as REST APIs or PLM SDKs, preferred.
  • Six Sigma, ITIL, or process improvement certification, preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting or chairing an engineering change control board, preferred.
