Description

Lead the migration from self-managed SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS for SQL Server.
Drive database cost optimization through instance right-sizing, reserved instance evaluation, storage tiering, and license reduction.
Mentor and upskill the Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations, RDS management, and cloud best practices.
Establish database monitoring, alerting, and performance baselines using Datadog and CloudWatch.
Design and implement automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes with AWS Backup.
Perform query optimization, index management, and capacity planning.
Collaborate with the DevOps team on database infrastructure automation using Terraform.
Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems, including encryption, access controls, and audit logging.
Support the Hospice application team with database-related development needs.
Evaluate future database modernization options such as PostgreSQL and Aurora for the 2027 roadmap.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in database administration.
Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2016+ including performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Experience with AWS RDS for SQL Server, including setup, migration, monitoring, and Multi-AZ configurations.
Experience with database migration projects from on-premises or EC2 to RDS.
Strong understanding of backup and restore strategies, point-in-time recovery, and cross-region replication.
Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, and SQL Server DMVs.
Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
Experience working in regulated environments such as HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC2.
Experience with AWS Backup and AWS DMS is preferred.
Experience with Terraform for database infrastructure management is preferred.
Experience with PostgreSQL or Aurora is preferred for future modernization work.
Experience with Windows Server administration is preferred.
AWS certifications such as Database Specialty or Solutions Architect are preferred.
Experience mentoring junior DBAs or application developers on database best practices is preferred.
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. with no visa sponsorship available.
Must reside in one of the eligible U.S. states listed for FuzeRx/Fuze Care Services.

Base salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 USD.
